Our client, a nationally acclaimed interdisciplinary research center in Mississippi seeks a Project Manager with a history of leading a team in the planning, creation, and implementation of complex enterprise Java applications. You will have a proven track record of delivering high quality software solutions and services. You will possess a demonstrated knowledge of the complete software development lifecycle. You will be accountable for project management involving a wide array of client-focused research projects, supervising professional staff and graduate research assistants delivering specific measured results for programming projects, and coordinating the delivery of development (beta) and production releases.


Our client’s typical solutions are <12 months from requirements to delivery. You will manage 3-5 development projects at any one time (multiple projects for one customer, or multiple customers with one or two projects each). You will have functional management of (4-8 team members) typically including a Software Architect, a Senior Programmer Analyst, a Programmer Analyst, and a Business Analyst. Combined projects funding managed $2-4 MIL annually.


Though driven for project success, you will have the proven ability to maintain great relationships with your team members and colleagues. You will have the ability to run projects where customer requirements may be somewhat fluid, and-or less defined.  You will proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

Required: Master’s degree.  A proven ability to plan, organize, and integrate cross-functional information technology projects that are significant in scope and impact. Full SDLC knowledge Solid technical grounding and the successful delivery of enterprise Java solutions. Agile - SCRUM.  Solid English, verbal and written communication skills. 


Pluses: PMP certification. 5+ years managing projects. Spring Framework. MySQL. Altassian Jira.  Experience in a university and-or government research setting. Delivering solutions to large government agencies, e.g. Department of Human Services, Workforce and Labor, Healthcare, Social Services. Knowledge of government grants – funding.
